There are times in life when everything feels hurried and rushed. Even the “restful” days can seem exhausting because you can’t stop thinking about the long to-do list. Recently, we added this raw table from Home Depot to our sunroom to crest our newest space this winter season. We all love our little bits of quiet and alone time, and this table fits perfectly in this corner. There are so many different ways we enjoy this recharge space. From enjoying a snack, putting together our family puzzle, or even drinking a warm cup of tea while reading emails. This space fits the needs for the whole family and we are so thankful for it.
Let’s take a look at this table. This table comes in raw pine, ready to be stained or painted to perfectly fit your space. I purchased this table from HomeDepot.com, and it was delivered right to my door.
While this table was on sale, we still qualified for the “free shipping on orders over $45 dollars.” Typically we opt for the free in-store pickup, but we had a busy work week and getting to Home Depot wasn’t on the schedule, so the 2-day shipping was perfect. The free shipping is a great option if you don’t have a vehicle large enough for your items–keep that in mind for other larger projects down the road. And if you feel overwhelmed on a project, Homedepot.com provides great resources such as great built-in tools like Project Calculators, Product Recommendations, and Shop The Room. These resources offer the best tools to help you get the project done right and hopefully within budget.
This table comes ready to assemble with very easy to understand instructions. I love the DIY/creative touch this table offers, it’s more than just move it in place and walk away. You can get all of your supplies to finish the table right at Home Depot as well. That added touch of customization makes it the perfect cozy touch to your space. We have previously owned this table years back, but through remodels and redesigns we parted ways with our first table. Now we have a perfect space for it in our sunroom, so we purchased it again. The table comes with the tools necessary for assembly, but to add just a bit more to the assembly we added a few steps.
Quick side note, if you want the option to disassemble for any reason, I would not follow the next steps. These steps we’re sharing will keep the table assembled for years and years to come.
1. Threadlocker
All of the bolts that secure the legs to the base and the top to the pedestal should be coated thoroughly with threadlocker. Threadlocker is a paste that goes on the threads to keep the bolts from backing out of nuts. If you are shifting the piece around from different spaces, or move it to clean, naturally those bolts will want to back out, and threadlocker keeps this from happening.
2. Wood Glue
We added wood glue to the dowels that secured the legs to the pedestal and the flat area where the pedestal touches the tabletop. The wood glue keeps the wood from shifting around, again to prolong the life of the table.
Fortunately, we had the extra supplies and tools for this project. Budgets are tight and we spend more time in the stores than we want, but don’t forget about you. Gift yourself items that will bring you relaxation when you need it most.
